Unit 1: Six Sigma Basics
The course begins with a broad overview of the fundamentals of the Six Sigma methodology, along with a detailed introduction to the DMAIC approach - (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control). Unit 3: Management Tools for Generating Ideas
Brainstorming and affinity diagrams are discussed and explored in unit three, which also introduces the concepts of consensus-building, multi-voting and the nominal group technique. An introduction to quality audits is also provided, incorporating the identification of minor nonconformance, major nonconformance and areas for improvement.
Unit 4: Project Lifecycle
The component stages of the project lifecycle are examined in the fourth unit - Initiation, Strategic Planning, Execution, Control and Closure. Candidates also learn how to establish goals and objectives in accordance with the SMART model - Specific, Measurable, Accurate, Realistic and Time-Bound. Additional subtopics discussed include the project charter, project costs, project resource planning and more.
Unit 5: Continuous Improvement
Course unit five details the importance of striving for continuous improvement throughout all stages of the project management process. Learners study a detailed dissection of each of the components of the DMAIC and their respective contributions to a continuous improvement initiative.
Unit 6: Project Risk Management
The art of effective risk management is discussed at length in unit six, which details the process of identifying project risks, the importance of effective risk prioritisation and the roles and responsibilities of key risk management personnel. The creation and implementation of an effective risk management plan is also discussed.
Unit 7: Customer Relationships
Bringing the course to a close, unit seven examines the relationship between customer satisfaction and business performance. Candidates learn how to create a customer satisfaction questionnaire using the ServQual model, assess the quality of customer feedback collected and consider customer relations in accordance with the RATER model: Reliability, Assurance, Tangibles, Empathy and Responsiveness.
