Why Study Six Sigma?
Six Sigma is a dynamic project management philosophy that focuses on maximisation of efficiency and elimination or errors/waste. One of the world’s most popular and revered project management frameworks, Six Sigma was first introduced by Motorola in 1986. Since then, this extraordinary philosophy has helped thousands of businesses spanning every key sector improve their output, their efficiency and their profitability. Project managers who master the art of Six Sigma implementation are considered business asset of limitless value. Whether already working as a project manager or considering a career change, Six Sigma certification could transform your long-term outlook.
Here at Staff Training Solutions, we impose no restrictions whatsoever on Six Sigma course eligibility for enthusiastic candidates worldwide. Complete Six Sigma course details and topics covered throughout the five course units are outlined below:
Unit 1: Six Sigma Basics
The course begins with a fascinating introduction to the origins, functions and key objectives of the Six Sigma project management methodology. Candidates are also familiarised with the DMAIC approach to project management - (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) - along with how Six Sigma can be applied to almost any process at any level in any organisational setting.
Unit 2: Project Improvement Tools
The effective use of several essential project improvement tools is discussed in unit two, which provides candidates with examples of Cause Effect Diagrams, Histograms, Flowcharts, Scatter Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, Check Sheets and Control Charts. The advantages of each project improvement tool in a project management setting are also examined.
Unit 3: Management Tools for Generating Ideas
Organising and leading effective brainstorming sessions enters the discussion in unit three, which also explores the use of affinity diagrams, the nominal group technique, consensus-building and multi-voting. Quality audits in a project management setting are discussed, incorporating a detailed definition of both minor and major nonconformance.
Unit 4: Continuous Improvement
Six Sigma as a continuous improvement project management methodology is explored in unit four, which provides a more detailed dissection of the components of the DMAIC model. Several common challenges to the pursuit of continuous improvement are also discussed.
Unit 5: Customer Relationships
In the fifth and final unit, learners examine the extent to which customer relationships can impact the performance and prosperity of the entire organisation. The creation of customer satisfaction questionnaires in accordance with the ServQual model is discussed, along with helpful feedback-gathering techniques and the evaluation of customer satisfaction using the RATER model: Reliability, Assurance, Tangibles, Empathy, and Responsiveness.
